Gobble, Gobble!

For 4 long years we have wanted to go to Freedom Baptist Church in Havelock to help serve the marines Thanksgiving supper! It finally happened this year, and it made me wish we hadn’t missed the last 4! But, better late than never and we had an AMAZING time.

The trip started by preparing 9 turkeys and all the fixings for about 100 marines, decorating, cleaning, etc. We had a great time of fellowship with the Kohrs and the Mellentines. Thursday morning approached and the Lord allowed a big mix up with the sergeant who was organizing the list of 100 marines. Evidently it was never passed around. Initially the news was frustrating and very disappointing, but God knew best. He sent over 20 marines that, I believe, we were able to fellowship with even better than having 100 or more! We ate lots of food, had tons left, played volleyball, football, basketball, and so many other enjoyable things. A Gospel message was given and we are praying that God will continue to work in hearts.

Andrew loved to do anything and everything with the marines. They were awesome with him! Josiah Mellentine is a Sergeant in the Marine Corp and the biggest buddy of Andrews! I believe God has used Josiah in a mighty way in many of our little ones’ lives and has been a huge blessing to Brian and I over the years. We are so thankful for godly young people who chose to go on for God no matter their occupation and then have a huge POSITIVE influence on our children!

I can honestly say that this was the BEST Thanksgiving ever! I know, we were not with family and all, but I cannot even describe the joy and thankfulness this trip gave me! It was amazing and I am looking forward to sharing a few other fun things we did in the next few days!
